Swapped my td04 to a td05 on my 1995 impreza wrx wagon. It was a direct fit thank goodness. You will need a remap for sure: turbo bigger so will force more air into the manifold which needs to be matched by extra fuel. Wastegate duty cycle will also inevitably be different. I swapped the ECU in my car as difficult to remap the earlier models.

Never had it done. I would guess £200-300. You could PM Jolly Green Monster for a quote. Well worth doing IMHO.

other option would be to buy another td04 and bolt it on: cheap as chips and no remap needed i would say since it's the same.

I have one if interested. just came of my subaru (changed to a vf28 this week). you will also need new gaskets for it. apart from that doesn't smoke or leak oil. has a bit of play in the shaft but nothing serious. about the same as my vf28.
