Default Oil cooling IDEA

Hi
I am currently breaking a wrx automatic and I realised the transmission fluid is cooled via the main radiator which holds the water, there are 2 pipes on the cold side of the rad am I right in thinking this would be a good and cost effective way of cooling my engine oil on my track car I am building and will it work or has it been done before or tried?
