Handbrake shoes replacement guide?
Anyone know of one? Putting the larger STI ones onto my WRX. Never touched brake shoes before....
Found the Subaru manual so I'll get it done with that if needs be, but I always prefer something with someone's real world experience.

Sti shoes dont fit a wrx. You can either fit sti hubs or buy an adaptor kit like this.

With regards to setting them after. Adjust with the discs off until the shoes almost touch the drum. Fit the drum and wheel. Spin the wheel and adjust out a little more until you feel a difference then back off a bit. Make sure the wheel spins freely and once both sides are done you can do any small adjustments from the inside of the car on the short cable behind the lever.
Might be worth checking the inside adjustment first as if its been wound right up in the past due to wear you want to unwind it and reset the shoes to leave room for more future adjustment from inside.

Yep there is a hole in the rear of the baking plate of each hub. This moves each shoe in and out individually. It allows you to loosen to remove them and to equal the two sides out. Once its pretty much there you can use the internal nut under the carpet behind the lever to adjust the shoes equally. As they wear you can nip them up a bit here but they last forever.
