Thermostat issue?
Hi guys!
Got a 1997 t2000 and as he cold weather decided to check my coolant levels etc and top up anti freeze. Obviously need to keep the engine running with the cap off to let any air out of the system, but I noticed that I kept the car running for quite a while and the fans didn't kick in? Surely they should of as well?
Now I might be thick but is that normal or could it just need a new thermostat?
Thanks

Unfortunately not seeing your car and what it's doing then no I'm not sure.
Blocked heater matrix will cause it to run cold.
Do the fans actually work?
Does the temp gauge read normal?
Does the top and bottom rad hose get warm/hot?

Yeah I can appreciate that mate
& yeah fans work checked with self diagnostic runs fine.
Can't unfortunately tell you the temp as my gauge is broken (waiting on replacement clocks etc)
And as far as I can see the top rad hose gets hot and the bottom gets warm but not as hot as the top

Why would a blocked heater matrix cause the car to run cold?.

Was the heater blowing hot inside?
If the thermostat was stuck shut the car would boil over (does it boil over?)
The fans will only cut in when the temp gets hot enough but hard for you to tell with no working gauge.
The engine may seem extremely hot to you but actually running at its normal temp.
