Default working out whats already been done ont he car. map etc

Hi guys, I recently posted about me getting my second impreza after coming back from an evo. ive managed to pick up a my2000 uk turbo with 80k, full stamped service history in all round great shape. The car runs really great and very chuffed. Ok so I posted before about what route I want to go in where tunings concerned, so now im trying to find out exactly whats been done to the car.... there are no dyno graphs etc to prove power or receipts to prove mapping or gauges etc.

I can visually see that it has a cat back, has an original downpipe with cat, original headers and uppipe, a blitz cone air filter and a bailey bov. I am putting the original airbox with cosy filter and the original bov back on. Now my old impreza I tuned but when I bought it all stock I don't remember it being as quick or especially picking up boost as quick... so im leaning toward thinking its had a remap maybe an ecutek. is there any tell tale signs that will give a remap away? its still on the original boost controller. im thinking of quickly plumbing in a spare boost gauge I have. am I right in thinking these boost around 13psi standard? what would it roughly produce if mapped about 18?? Then im thinking why would someone have mapped it and not put a decat downpipe lol?!

Many thanks, aaron.
