Clutch advice please.
A mate of mine just acquired a classic. Needs a new clutch asap. I've requested info on the car from API but haven't received anything back yet. (API have serviced the car for a period and rebuilt the engine 10 yrs ago.) I was hoping to find out what state of tune the car is in. Matey has spoken to API and, knowing the car, they have suggested a stage 2 clutch. The only technical info we have is the wording of the sales advert which lists ported heads, sports cat and a remap to 235bhp.
My reason for posting is that from driving the car it doesn't appear to have been modded to a high degree. My previous classic ran a standard clutch (Borg & Beck I think) whilst running a Link ECU, decat and induction on a MY00. This lasted over 60k miles. I was under the impression that the type of clutch was dependent on the power.
Any ideas and recommendations?
Thanks.

Couple of options for you depending on power:

No, by the very nature of a paddle clutch the bite point is smaller which has its advantages and disadvantages.
As far as paddle clutches go though these Competition Clutch Stage 4 Paddle have decent road manners being 6 puck and sprung.
Remember the ratings provided are at the wheels whereas your torque figure is presumably at the flywheel.
