I've got a 53 sti with a 3" exhaust and need to quiet it down it had a cheep toyosport on it was shocking loud on start up and cruse then almost silent when you hoofed it so I swapped that for a milltek resonated decat and resonated cat back and that's just as bad it's ear splitting at cruse it's getting right on my **** anyone got quiet exhausts on or heard any and have any recommendations?

What about just a prodrove system? can get them pretty cheap second hand.

A Miltek is certainly not "ear splitting" - they are also generally seen as one of the quieter exhausts. Could there be a problem elsewhere - you say "cat back" so maybe exhaust manifold, up-pipe or down-pipe?
