They Do Fit!!!!!
#1
Hi All
Just to let all you Legacy owners know that you can fit a Impreza rear box with a little work.
I took me 4½ hours today to fit a HKS rear box on by Legacy Estate and it sounds GREAT!!! The rear box had 3" pipe and it fitted perfectly on to my standard mid section.
If anyone wants any pointers drop me a line.

I took out the rear Ninjer Star section and the sound is increased by about 20% sounded great for the first 20 miles and then i had to put it back in as it was doing my ears in
Thanks Again

But does the bung/RESTRICTOR make any difference to the power...The best silencers usually take the form of a restrictor. Have you ever cut open a standard subaru back box???? Strange...

Ricco - hope you have earplugs mate - Blitz is scarily loud!
Stevie - on the road the bung makes little or no difference to performance. Although the HKS systems is 8cm or thereabouts - the back box has a 6cm restrictor already in it. The bung is an addition 6cm restrictor. When datalogging I found very little if any measurable difference on the road. However on track I do notice the difference as the car is at very high gas flow nearly all of the time.
For my ears - it is not a problem leaving it in performance wise.

There is slightly more room on the estate than the saloon at the back of the car. Im surprised the mid section fitted, as the legacy is slightly longer than the impreza, the estate more so. OOPS, misread that bit, you didnt change the mid section..The rear hangers are very similar, but the one near the axle isnt so close compared to the impreza. The majority of bits do bolt straight onto the legacy. Ive changed ecu's/engines/struts/brakes/seats ( F+R )/gearboxes etc etc. The list goes on. Is there anything that doesnt swap...lol
On a friends car we had to lengthen the magnex system slightlyto get it to fit right, along with modifiying the rear hangers. Not a massive job, but I did have my trusty angle grinder and welder with me. I just have a cheesy mongoose sytem I got second hand on my car.
