Default Which filter is better

Lads,

Which filter is better?

Pipercross foam type or the Apexi ?

I have both and prefer the Apexi but is size restricting on a 270 bhp Bugeye? I has the Apexi on my Blobeye and never had an issue with it and it's also a much nicer installation.

Thanks

What he is saying is below a certain power level approx 400
The standard set up works best with a panel filter ( pointless mod although you may get a little more induction noise ... However you have un balanced 1 side of the triangle so j wouldn't be surprised if your AFR' wasn't all over the Lake District .

It is serious, the open type cone filters draw hot air in from the engine bay.

For your power level a panel filter in its original housing would be best.Induction kits do work but they have to be integrated at the right time and stage of your modifications, plus a cold air supply is a must with adequate heat shielding.SJ.

K&N or Green are ok if you give them a pat down to make sure they are drenched in oil.

I've read that any oil based filters are no good and clog up the maf sensor.

Been using K&N oiled filters for years as well, currently have a K&N cone filter on the car running 400bhp and never had a problem.

Never had a MAF fail but if you over oil them when you clean the filter then it could cause problems.

At the op power I would not bother with anything other than standard.

I have a heat shield on mine and kept the original air scoop, from experience it causes no problems, once the car is moving the temperature difference between ambient air and intake air is only 1 degree.

Get up to 70mph and there is no difference.

Thanks Lads, I'll look for a standard air box and eventually sell both of mine.. Until I get one I will use the Apexi..

That video blows out all reasoning behind an uprated panel filter though.

Thanks

also the way some cone filters are supported/mounted damages maf`s due to the vibrations.

Note they only tested one performance filter, and never said what it was.

At the end out the day its a mind field, i've spent ages looking into this, you can get a panel filter that has amazing flow but its filtration is rubbish, which is the whole idea of a panel filter, you want to remove all the rubbish in the air thats going into your engine with a good flow.

And to fine out the filter thats the best at this is not easy. Thats why i stick to Subaru products.

Pro R or STI or at a push K&N otherwise stick to standard OEM filter
