Default Maf sensor unplugged!??

Hi guys, I just brought an 04 blobeye an the previous, previous owner spent a good few quid on the engine, front mount, induction kit etc. Running around 300bhp apparently but the maf sensor has been unplugged an taped up....
According to the guy I got it off it was unplugged because it keeps bringing a warning light on but it's not required anyway!

Anyone got any ideas because I'm confused!

Thanks

Going to be needing a new engine soon running it unplugged, reason its unplugged as it wont run with the fault but unplugging it will, get a new maf sensor fitted id not be running the engine until sorted. Guy sounds like he has not a clue so id be getting the mapping checked after a new sensor to make sure all they mods have been adjusted for.

hold fire getting a new one untill you know its a problem, could have been mapped out.

Need to get it on a dyno at a decent tuner to find out whats going on.

If it was mapped out it would not be throwing out faults with the eml

Those rough edges are shocking.... seriously I would be a bit worried about the car judging by what the guy said, the maf issue and the general bodgey nature of things. Get a proper check up mate, to make sure you don't end up with wrecked engine and massive repair bill.
