Default Hesitation before boost

Excuse the long winded post and several questions!

O.K, my 2005 JDM STI was suffering from boost cut which was eventually diagnosed as a faulty 3 port boost solenoid.

My old solenoid was a two wire unit, spliced into the loom with connectors and was lined onto the turbo inlet pipe, actuator and also the nipple on the turbo by the outlet.

We replaced the old solenoid with a new Grimmspeed unit and did a direct swap of all three vac lines onto the new solenoid (ie from port 1 on old solenoid onto port 1 on new solenoid etc) and simply connected it into the previously used connectors.

The car boosts absolutely fine, when on full chat, but I can feel an ever so slight hesitation immediately before she comes on strong! Here are the questions!

If I had mucked up the two wires into the loom (switched them by accident for example), would it still boost?

Should all three ports be in use as mentioned above?

As the car was mapped with all three ports in use, will it make a difference if I switch it to two ports in use and one venting (as per Grimmspeed installation instructions)?

No other variables have been changed, only the solenoid!
