Clutch fork too far back?
Why is my clutch fork so far back, tried fitting the slave cylinder and had to fight back the fork to fit slave?
It's a brand new competition clutch and flywheel.
I'm worried of clutch slip when it's running, is fork ajustable?

Yes.
It's all done just thought it was wierd that I had to prize fork back a bit to fit slave, as bolt holes were just a couple of mm out when slave fully depressed.
Guess I'll just have to test when running, just slight worried

Yes a 6 speed fork used as 5 speed doesn't fit.
Spoke to Alan and he said just try it, may relax once bedded a bit.
I was just concerned as you shouldn't have to pull fork back to fit slave cylinder.
well shall see when car running.

All clutch release mechanism should have a small amount of free play.. your situation now is it has the effect of slightly depressing the pedal.
I had this same scenario in my classic. However it appeared some time after fitting. Clutch just started slipping one day on boost. All free play had gone from release arm...!!

We're are talking just a Couple of mm out when trying to fit slave bolt holes so hoping once new clutch is bedded slightly will be ok (hopefully)
Can only wait n see, if not and if it's clutch I'll return and get twin plate or act.

Was the clutch pedal stuck down at the time? You should be able to push the slave back in no

Pushed slave in yes, but was still about 2mm out for bolt holes so had to force fork back a bit to bolt slave on (just found that wierd as they go straight on).
Pedal works fine, back and forth etc, but I wouldn't say it's oem feel like advertised.
Don't forget, cars not running yet and won't be for a few weeks yet if that makes any difference

Should be easy to pull the box out, I assume the prop, exhaust and front shafts are still off? I always test the clutch first before fitting the rest up. Just went through all this on my own car when fitting the new flywheel and clutch setup that I designed and built.

Yes....
was an exedy light billet steel flywheel and an exedy stage 1 organic.
The problem first occurred whilst driving home from a sprint. I think the pressure plate got damaged whilst launching hard.
The free play was normal beforehand.
Tbh.. I purchased a competition clutch and sent it back. The release bearing retainer clip looked flimsy and there was a few other quality issues.
I have refaced and refitted the stock flywheel with another exedy.

I'll be pissed if it is a quality issue that's for sure.

What gearbox have you mounted and wich fork? what clutch and what slave cilinder?
Some combinations work, some dont.
I had the exact same problem with a 6spd using a 5spd fork. ground of the pin and 2 or 3mm from the slave and it fits.. i do have a 6spd fork now, but not pulling the box till the clutch or engine goes out.

Should work. Im starting to think, maybe you accidently used the 5 speed fork.. A picture would help here.
6spd fork is straight. 5 speed has a step/kink in it.
I have the same setup as you (5spd clutch, 5 spd starter) and i also had exactly the same problem when i accidently put the 5 spd fork in..

let's be realistic....
if you got to shorten the push rod.. There is something wrong ... my money is on the clutch pressure plate..
If if is the clutch you can return for a refund now.. The quality of those cc clutches is open to question.. sent mine back..

Let's be even more realistic, engineer a solution and make it work.

So it's not going to take time to pull the box, (sent back the clutch and wait ages for a new one) re fit the clutch then put the box back in? If it was my car of just mod the push rod, but then I've designed flywheels and gearbox solutions with adaptor plates so I have confidence in my work and know what I'm looking at.
