Default HDi Hybrid Gt2 intercooler GC8 install

Hi, I'm sure this has been asked hundreds of times, but I'm trying to find a fitting guide for a HDi Hybrid GT2 intercooler kit for my 1996 classic

Thanks, but I've seen that one. My kit is different to that.

I'm now having major issues with the HDI kit that I've got none of the pipes line up and seem to be touching just about everywhere! wishing I'd never bothered with this sh*t!!!

Got the right kit?

Also, is your car a Ph1 or Ph1.5 car?

You sure you have classic pipe work with kit?

I recently fitted one and was a ball ache with all cutting around front end but fitted OK in end, apart from 1 part on passenger side engine bay where bonnet was fouling so cut a bit off pipe to shorten and now perfect.

It's not an easy modification, needs time and patience and a bit of modifying if needed.

Just a rough idea where core should be for pipes to line up, but be warned you'll need angle grinder to cut slam panel and front part of chassis near wheel arch for pipe to go under into engine bay

I've cut the bumper bar about to mount the core, knew i was gonna have to so that before I started. The problem is the pipework, none of it seems to kit! Not one pipe out of the 4 will fit without serious modification

Nice one, cheers bustaMOVEs

My pipework done line up anything like yours, think I've been stitched up. HDi intercooler & ebay pipework!

Brought the kit over a year ago so cant even do f*ck all about it! Oh well, thats 500 quid down the drain and two wasted weekends - Cheers HDi!

I've dragged out an old APS kit thats been hiding in the back of my garage for years. Started laying it out on the car and everything is gonna line up perfectly. No trimming of anything other than the bumper. Wouldn't have needed to trim the bumper bar, if I hadn't already. Only thing I'll have to figure out is some kind of intake setup as there is no room for an air filter so its gonna have to live the other side of the inner wing

Thanks for your help.

P.S. anyone wanna buy a HDi Gt2 intercooler kit before I smash the cr*p out of it!?

V3 is Ph1.5

Mine is a Ph1, inlet manifold is different on the Ph1.5.

Right, I think I'm finally getting somewhere. Got a few adjustment to make before I'm 100% happy with the fitment

The pipe near battery, cut it down a bit at joiner, this way it will sit down further in between oil filler and battery terminal.
Did that with mine and now has plenty room from battery incase it touched.

Sorry to bring up a really old thread but I can’t find any other info on this. I’ve got the exact same kit fitted to mine as the OP. In his last pic the pipe which runs to the right next to the battery is fouling on the bonnet.

From what I’ve read here, am I right in thinking I can trim the cooler pipe where it goes down behind the radiator and that will lower it while not interfering with anything else? Also how much should I be taking off?
and any idea where I can buy a replacement pipe if it goes wrong lol. Just worried because the people saying trim it seem to have a different pipe to me where it has a joint in the top part too, mines a solid piece like in the last pic so don’t know if it’ll work the same.

Thanks!

Basically yes, mine was slightly fouling bonnet, so trimmed a bit off behind rad at strait end and added a silicone coupler, this should pull the top part of that pipe down a bit. Just cut a bit not a lot and test and if need be a bit more.
I'll see if I can find a pic of mine when I trimmed it

Brill, thanks a lot for the reply, so I just trim it down after the bend where it’s in the coupler?

May sound a daft question but how can you tell if it’s clear? My bonnet closes fine, I only realised it was fouling after driving it a few miles and it’s damaged the pipe.

If bonnet closes fine then it just may need pulling closer in the coupler/join?
If not just cut a little bit off and gently force it down so it won't foul.
Pretty simple really

Have it welded rather than adding another coupler, there are so many as it is with a FMIC.

Be mindful that cutting pipework will lose the Bead and hoses will be prone to blowing off under boost. Cold side pipes are under less pressure and less likely to blow off. The HDI silicone and clamps are poor quality, you might want to consider upgrades at a later date.

This is a V2 with inlet spacers to allow a front entry turbo conversion. Without cutting and joiners, there was no way the HDI kit was going to fit a v2 without clashing.
