putting ej205 heads on a ej 20
#3
Thanks for replying mick,I don't know what version of engine it is,off the top of my head it was removed from a preface lift classic.my bugeye let go the other day and I quickly want to build an engine to drop straight back in the classic block pistons and crank are OK the heads off the bugeye should be OK hoping merge the two so there no need to alter the loom and ecu,any advice would be much appreciated.

If the pistons on the classic block sit above the deck face at TDC ( version 1 to 4 ), then you might need to fit 1.1mm head gaskets to keep the CR somewhere near to where it should be.
If the pistons sit slightly below deck at TDC ( version 5 to 6 ) then fit the standard 0.6mm head gaskets to suit your bugeye 49cc combustion chambers on the heads.
Rule of thumb for identification, Version 1 to 4 blocks have a 4 bolt and 2 bottom studs on the bell housing where as Version 5 onwards (phase 2 engines) will 6 bolt and 2 bottom studs.
