Default Getting it back on the road

Hi All,

Been an age since ive been on here, well , im thinking of getting my 2000 P1 back on the road ( after 3 years sleeping in the garage)

I Live in coventry , and spoke to Mark at TDR and he recommended i get the Cam belt done and all the oils changed , as well as a rolling road too see how its pulling

Its completely stock and was wondering of getting the Air filter changed , to an induction kit . eg K&N , or which ever you guys can recommend , or is it even worth doing it ? is there any power increase or benefit to the car.? i have heard of Maf issues if you change the air filter system
Also is it best to get it remapped if the filter is changed .

My first choice is TDR , but anyone else who can recommend anyone else in the midlands would be appreciated

kind regards

Leave the air filtration as it is, but fit either a Cosworth or a STi filter, RCM will supply.

Dunno where TDR is, but they seem to do lots of Mazda stuff? I'd also look at Carnetix, Melton Mowbray.

After three years, before starting, ensure battery is fully charged, then remove crank position sensor lead and crank engine for fifteen seconds. Replace sensor lead and start. this ensures that the oil has circulated before starting.

TDR is a Subaru specialist nothing to do with mazda's. http://tdracing.co.uk/

Mark has built from ground up and mapped winning time attack cars and carries out all services including engine and gearbox building, race car preparation in house mapping with a very nice rolling road booth.

He is currently building my 2.35 stroker which will be running at over 700bhp when finished. He has done all my mapping on both my cars with excellent results.

Your car will be in very safe hands

Ah...OK, that's not what comes up if you Google TDR.

thanks for all your replies , i think i will use Mark at TDR , he sounded knowledgeable on the phone .

Why is it a bad idea to change the air filtration system ?
if its remapped after , is it still not worth it?

The standard airbox is good for up to 400bhp, no point in changing it unless your looking to go over that.

Also, a cone filter causes more vibration and possible oiling problems to the MAF, which is delicate to start with.

If the MAF goes, the first you know can be when the engine drops the bottom end
