Default Track Day Exhaust

I am after a track day exhaust system for my spec C.

I have done all the usual searching etc and clearly the cobra or the millet come up as being a good choice, and that they may well be, but they come with a high price tag.

Now back when I was a lad you could buy exhausts in mild steel and although they wouldn't last as long as the stainless exhausts they were definitely not as expensive.

I have a good exhaust system which I'm happy with for the road or noisier track days, but i want something as cheap as possible for the quieter days which isn't going to cost the earth or kill off the boost.

So has to be 3". Has to be connect directly onto the RCM decay downpipe. Has to be as cheap as possible!

Is there anywhere you can buy this sort of thing or have made up these days?

OEM look.

10% off, compared to direct from Cobra.

Still pretty steep though - bearing in mind it's just cat-back.

Epic fail. I only skim-read your post!

Therefore, I'd be inclined to get a back box custom made. Which the likes of Cobra could do, too.

Or perhaps, get a simple, cheapo bung insert made? But be careful, as this may drive up EGTs to dangerous levels. Esp. on track!

I ended up custom making mine as wanted 3" but being twin scroll couldn't get the right sound that was also track friendly. I found mine a bit by accident trying a hks super dragger back box from a classic as the box it's self is quite substantial and also has sort of zig zag baffling inside which helps with the non burble of the twin scroll without being too loud. I also added a 12x4" resonator in the middle to un drone the middle of the Rev range. I got a 95db from it.
