Default Engine failure

Hi guys!

Need some advice!
My 97 turbo 2000 engine blew up the other day, I was driving down the motor way and a slight knocking sound started coming from my engine, as I was on the motor way I decided to slow down and try come of at the next services or junction, before I could however my engine completely exploded with complete loss of power and smoke everywhere! I had to pull on the hard shoulder and get recovered! There a whole in what I think my manifold is and it's a mess!
I just want advice on what you think it is, how much to fix and if it's worth fixing at all!
Thanks guys, your the best!

Tom!

Tom,

Sorry to hear that bud, I think you may have had a conrod snap then punch a hole in your block and spray hot oil all over hot engine components . . .it happened to me last year however I did manage to drive 2 miles home on 2 or 3 cylinders . .Hardy old girl to the end

sounds like a new engine needed

Just buy a new long engine, the uk2000 engine for the 97 wont cost crazy prices..
hire a hoist and spend a day replacing it yourself

Were there any mods to the engine, turbo, inlet, exhaust etc and if so, what?

Pretty pointless rebuilding until you find out what caused it to fail.
