Blue smoke on startup after being stood
Getting a cloud of blue smoke that disappears after 5 seconds when I start the Scoob up.
Barley ever use it, only seems to do it after it's been stood for weeks. If I were to start it once a day for example it doesn't happen.
Is this a major problem?

Depending on your set up it could be:
A. Oil vapour accumulating in the intercooler, then slowly making its way to the throttle body when it's standing. When it then starts you get some smoke.
Or
B. Your turbo might be on its way out.
Do you drive it in a spirited (but legal) fashion before parking it? Do you get any smoke of any colour at any other times?

To be fair, when I had the intercooler off I did notice oil residue inside it- what would be the cause of that?
I do drive it in a spirited fashion, but it's always cooled down and not driven had within the last 10 minutes of driving.
I don't get any other smoke. I saw a puff of black smoke once when I changed gear once, but this car has been known to shoot a flame or two out when warm!

There is a good thread here:

And a good instal guide here:

I'm not an expert on this so my apologies if I send you down the wrong path. As always, ask a professional before spending money!

The experts reckon that the boxer configuration leaves a certain amount of oil in the cylinders, and this burns off when the engine is started. It's not a great cloud though, just a whisp.
