noise when clutched depressed

Default noise when clutched depressed

03 wrx

so whenever i press the cluth pedal i hear the noise, kinda sounds like a whine/straining noise, all gears car be engadged no problem and the car drives fine, any ideas what the noise is? im guessing its not meant to sound like that, car has done 93k, still on original clutch as far as i know .

clutch release bearing shot. Best install a new clutch kit.

im guessing on a impreza its a time consuming job? ie big bucks?

No more than any other job. The downpipe will have to come off as will the diff. Depends how much of an **** the turbo downpipe bolts are, otherwise it's ok.
