Default Buying a blobeye WRX, Leaking fluid underneath?

Im looking at buying an impreza wrx 2003 on 48k miles and I've had it put on a ramp this morning to so I can check the underside.

I've been told its a cv joint boot spill, does anyone know if that's what it is and what is needed to repair it?

Thanks

Kyle

Yep CV boot is split. That one always goes first as it's sat under the downpipe.

Either replace the shaft or the boot and repack with grease.

Thanks Scotty,

Do you know how much parts and labour would cost, I'd have to pay someone to do it so I can take it off his asking price.

Cheers

Easy to do, roll pin holds it in at the gear box end and axle nut at the other end. You might need to undo the bottom ball joint to give yourself enough room to get the shaft out, I have to on my wagon, but Saloons have a wider track so it might not be needed.

Was it parked on a beach?

Does it look rough underneath, its near Morecambe at the moment so it won't be far away from sea water, but I'll be bringing it to the Isle of Man which is no better.

After I've had the cambelt done the next job will be to clean up the underside and use something to seal it and prevent any further rust.
