Default Decat uppipe without resistor mod

I'm new to the scooby scene. Only had my bugeye 3 months.
I've just finished swapping the uppipe for an sti one, and just waiting on delivery of some 2.2kohm resistors.
My query is, is it safe to drive the car without the resistor in place, obviously the cel light will be on, but apart from that any other adverse effects?
Cheers

Why are you doing a decat up pipe mod if your not going to remap?
Very much doubt you will feel any benefit without.
You are changing/increasing flow without any adjustment to fuel, ignition, boost etc.

i do plan to, but not till I've done the rest of the exhaust, air filter etc.
Just wondering about running without the resistor in the meantime.
I'd like to do away with the other 2 cats, but then it won't be mot friendly, so not sure which way to go

You could go sportscat down pipe or find a decat friendly mot place.
Running without the resistor could be the least of your problems tbh.
Removing exhaust restrictions and not adjusting fuel tables could cause the car to run lean.
You could be ok but it's a gamble without at least checking the AFR's

Up here in the north west you can get the cat sensors mapped out for £50 mate but if your plans are to get the cats off and couple of other mods a remap will defo be necessary ossette has said above
