Fuel pipework
Is it necessary to have the fuel damper unit fitted. If I remove it does anyone know the size of the hard pipework from the tank to the engine bay and can I get connectors so I can put braided lines throughout the engine bay with AN-6 connectors.

Hi Ste,
what is the damper unit that your speaking about?
The fuel supply & return I believe are 8mm and you can get -6AN fittings for them. The tank rollover valves to charcoal filter is a smaller diameter pipe, not sure exact size.
I am in the middle of refitting my fuel tank but it has been chopped in half and modified for racing use. I will be using the hard pipes for fuel supply & return but the vapour pipes I intend to get rid of (throughout the car), my charcoal filter has previously been removed anyway but I will be keeping the rollover valve and re-pipe it to vent somewhere under the car or wheel arch
Cheers
Rich

There are two black discs on newage beside fuel filter rich, these are the dampers.
I changed all engine bay to teflon braided for saftey but left rubber from tank sender to hardlines as fuel system can pulse if its all solid. Mines pretty noisey already last time it was running. 8mm tube adapters as above.
Steves cars probably still quite modified and mapped to suit so i would be inclined to leave them unless you can log runs on wideband. Not sure if they they would still work being moved to rear or the closer to injectors the better.

Cheers for the replies, as I don't have a wideband fitted to do comparison readings I will leave it in place. As euan said the car is mapped for it's current setup but fitting braided lines and a Bosch pump and swirl pot in the boot should not upset things as the regulator controls the pressure. I bought most of the stuff four years ago when I planned on getting the engine rebuilt but as on it's last rolling road it put 440bhp and is over 110K miles the engine is running sweet so best left alone until needed.
