Ha, that's what I normally use.

But am aware of the potential for sparks igniting escaped glasses of the discharged battery (however minimal, these days).

I guess I could still use the -ve post... But connect the remote good doner battery LAST (rather than the recommended reverse).

That said, the question still remains: IS there anywhere on the chassis, away from the battery, that's suitable?

Anywhere that is bare ish metal. Towing eye.

You just worry too much John.

Anyway, it's a daily driver isn't it. Why do you need to jump it?

Battery goes a bit flat (by only enough to prevent cranking over) after not driving it all weekend... But only IF the weather has been bitingly cold.

Weird, as it's a Varta battery from Harfords, only less than 11 months old.

Nah, I don't usually worry about things like this, just don't want to experience a face full of acid, should it all go **** up. That said, I've ALWAYS jump started batteries using the post-to-post method - so far, no blow-ups lol.

I know about good bare metal etc,... Just wondered if there was anywhere ALREADY CONVENIENT to clamp to, that wouldn't involve any 'prep', so to speak. But the towing eye is a damn good call, TBF! Nice 'lateral thinking' there, Mick.

Battery is goosed then if it won't start after a weekend or you have a drain on the battery. Or the Cold Cranking Amps on the battery is shit. Most likely the battery is goosed though.

Find someone with a battery tester.
