Default 2.1 stroker kit

Hi currently having a 2.1 Stroker kit put together using my engine from my Wr1 ! garage have quoted me 105 hours work on the engine to fit Stroker kit and adjustments required to block ! this is not including taking engine out and putting it back in the car ! would you say this was correct or not and what sort of cost should i expect, im just getting bottom end done at moment no turbo, injectors and remap till next phase chasing more power ! my Wr1 has a few mods and has been running 355bhp for 10 yrs !!any thoughts would be appreciated !!

Are you talking full head and bottom end strip and rebuild?

Think my last one was about 40 hours, although I just paid a fixed amount for the build.

Sounds excessive, get another quote. I'd recommend Paul Finch/ Finch Motorsport, he is one of the top Subaru engine builders and very reasonable.

Surely at that price it cheaper to get one fully built with all parts including all done circa 3.5-5k depending on what block and parts are used.

105 hours for a 2.1 build ! even a full race EG33 doesn't take that long, & they are a barsteward of an engine.

The old Merc v10's were only 70 hours labour, & that included 2 mock ups.

Speak of the devil. I thought it sounded well OTT. How long do you usually quote Paul.

40 hrs work should cover a full build of a 2.1 including strip and overhaul the heads to standard spec, and removal and installation of the engine and anciliaries.

+1 to this ! had my engine built by him in 2014, 30k miles later, lots of abuse and still going strong.

really sorry to hear you're in that situation mate... the garage has you by the short and curlies!

if they are ripping you off then it might be best to get advice from a legal bod.

once its over feel free to name and shame them so others don't get caught in the same net you have.

Yep still in a Scooby after smashing up the last 3 lol... now this one has been off the road a year while the build has been going on... and on... and on... and on... ££££'s

Once you get infected with the Subaru virus its a life long condition... there's no known cure!

Devon is such a long way... but hopefully see you at next years car shows if you can get this current problem of yours dealt with. Best of luck with that mate, hoe you can get it sorted.
