Default VF35 rebuild

Hi, currently got my VF35 stripped down for new bearings and oil seals as it has a bit of play and is burning oil on the hotside.

I need to remove the "dust cap" on the hot side of the core, I can see a seam around it but no easy way to pop it off.

I think the oil way goes all the way through from the cold side to behind the cap and I'm tempted to use a sacrificial drift to knock it out that way... before I do I thought I'd look for advice and avoid any costly mistakes first.

So, for anyone in the know is this the correct way to remove it?

Nige

Think I have this sorted now. The cap doesn't come off for the rebuild. The journal bearing for the hot side is secured in with a gripper washer which is levered out.

Thanks
Nige

I've taken a few pics so will put a story together next week sometime.
