Trouble disabling airbag warning light
https://www.scoobynet.com/attachment...1&d=1511729481
Car is 1998 import Version 4 STi
Original steering wheel in place, presumably still contains airbag.
I have my MOT tomorrow, and followed some posts I had found concerning my Airbag light, which will not go out.
I bought 3 3.3 Ohm resistors. I disconnected the battery. I cut the cable I believe comes from the airbag in the steering wheel just above the yellow joiner pictured above. I soldered a 3.3 ohm resistor from Maplins (receipt says M3R3, Min Res 3.3R) across the 2 wires. I used shrink wrap, the job looked better than the main item in the picture (the black bit is my original try that I cut off when it failed). I reconnected the battery. I started the engine. Disappointingly, the Airbag red light did not go out.
I repeated in case the soldering was the problem, but the effort shown in the pic does not work either.
Did I cut the wrong cable? Did I use the wrong resistor? I did read one post recommending 2.2 Ohms, but the others recommended 3.3 so I went with that.
For now I have removed the Airbag bulb from the dash, but I doubt the MOT people will accept that.
Please let me know if you know what I can do to fix it.
Thanks, Tom
