Default 98 gc8 lacking in power

well after nearly 2 years I finally got my car back working, only issue is it seems down on power A LOT!!!
its running a race dynamics esl 8s Ecu with 2 maps and maffless, 440 injectors, everything except the knock sensor has been changed, which is throwing up the CEL, it’s also running a VF23 turbo off a 22b which is very low mileage. It smells like it’s running rich but no black smoke, it has the standard cat on which I think is caput. Any ideas as this car should fly, my silver gc8 has a td05 and that flew compared to this and it had a standard ecu.

If your knock sensor is throwing a code get another one from the same model. The knock sensor is imho the most important sensor on a Subaru and will cut power if not working.

Have you tried switching maps?
What did you have map1 and map2 set for,high/low boost?
Also if the cat has collapsed this will very restrictive.

If your knock sensor is throwing a fault iirc the ecu dumps fuel in to safeguard the engine which in turn will destroy your cat so I would get the knock sensor sorted before using the the car.
