Default Sounds faster than it is.

Ok so I love the sound of my scooby, 2003 uk sti approx 420bhp, RCM headers, 3" RMC downpipe, de res RCM 3"center and RCM 4.5" tail pipe.
But people can hear it for miles if i give some, and even if I'm not it sounds like I am. I have had people waving me to slow down, and when I check my speed I'm well under the limit.
Plod pulled me after I went round a roundabout, brisk but by no means fast, if I was in my 530D nobody would have batted an eye lid, gave me a talking to and a section 59, said public could be alarmed, I just said whatever and took it on the chin, had a clean licence for 20years, I do like to enjoy my car but know when and where.
I carnt help but think its my loud exhaust bringing unwanted attention.

so without Map tweak should I go for resonated center or change back box ? And any advise on wahts a straight swap would be very much appreciated.

Where bouts you live can't find a police man round my end if you wanted one. Plenty of mobile speed camera vans though.

Haha yeah it is quick, but do I add a resonated center or change backbox to reduce the volume.

I found milltek back box was best for me.
pro drive too quiet and ninja 2 too loud.
milltek was just right.
I had full decatted system with non resonator mid pipe.
I just trawled eBay and on here for used back boxes and changed until I found right one.
didn't lose any money and actually made some on a couple of them.

why would you buy a 420bhp car and de-tune it? .......that is if it is actually 420hp not just a standard with a few bolt on RCM parts.....

Will try swapping back boxes that sounds like best Idea thanks for advise.

Sure feels like 420, Dont want to de tune it, just to tone down the noise, is fully forged build, mahle pistons, manley rods, acl bearings, arp studs, cosworth gaskets, samco inlet, mdx321 turbo, 830cc decaped matched injectors, fmic, 3 port, act Hd clutch, sump baffle, fuel pump, ect, and rcm piped,.

my 2p worth...

i'd say it depends on how much you want to keep a 4.5" tip. If you're not fussed for the look of your exhaust then go and change that. If you want to keep the backbox look then go down the resonated route.

That said, you might also struggle to find a quieter backbox that will fit the 3" RCM centre section
