Default Wont Start

My V4 Sti suddenly wont start

I pulled it out from the garage to do a few odd jobs and it would not even make an attempt to fire afterwards.

No engine codes, just a consistant flash of the engine light with the black connectors connected.

It has new camshaft, crankshaft and coolant temp sensors.

Fuel coming upto the rail, fuel pump working ok

It has spark

All earths are ok and clean

Battery fully charged, not a slow crank.

It did sound a little lumpy as if low on fuel before turning off.

1/4 of a tank of petrol

Any ideas ?

If you have fuel, spark and no codes and it was running lumpy at start up I'd be checking the belt/idlers etc as it should go.

Full new timing belt kit also has been fitted.

New tensioners etc.

Now not lumpy enough to raise an eyebrow.

Just very slightly, if even

When was it fitted recently. Could still be your problem an hour would check it. Also if the belt guide wasn't installed correctly MIGHT be part of the equation.

No as its JDM. You have fuel and spark and no faults so it should go. Have you checked for injector pulse at the plugs if yes your back to the original suggestion. Your cam and crank sensors must be working otherwise you would have no spark or a code.

What were the jobs thats been done while it was in storage ?
isnt there a common plug swap between an injector and a sensor that catches people out, I think Busta normally spots that one ?

Did you just drive it out the garage then turn it off without letting it warm up? then try to start it again after working on it?
if so sounds like it was on cold start both times and has just flooded itself.

I've yet to take the plugs out, again there also recently new and have less the 50 miles on them. I cant see them being the problem.

Is there any main relays.fuses which may cause an issue?

Possible ECU issue?

the only obvious thing left to check is for a spark at the plugs themselves. They could have fouled up for some reason, but like you say unlikely in 50 miles if no signs of it running grossly rich or poor quality burn. But it seems you have got to the point where you have to start checking the unlikely

Pulled plugs out.

Look a little rich, but not wet.

Spark is also present.

When cracking without plugs, there is a strong smell of fuel also

Plug leads also tested fine on multimeter

If You have fuel from the injectors spark at the spark plugs ,compression is good and the timing is correct then it will run.
Re check everything.

Ok so check plugs again, they were sparking but had some build up of soot/carbon (running rich, but not wet)

Cleaned them up with a blow torch and a wire brush.

Car started and is running fine.
