ABS can be a pain to bleed on them sometimes you have to cycle the abs pump.

Ok thanks I did bleed it about 5 times with engine ruining , could there still be air in the system or could be a bad booster , the pedal feels good until you feel you need to brake harder and it doesn't want go down any more but it only feels like it's half way down

Get in pump pedal till it goes hard then start the engine and see does the brake pedal drop to see if your servo is working then check the one way valve between the servo and the inlet manifold.

Hi I did a few checks today I pumped the pedal until it went hard then turned on the car and the pedal did drop a bit I also sprayed some soapy water around the master cylinder and saw no bubbles and I checked the hose but couldn't see any rips or damage, any ideas what it could be

On the Impreza you need to trigger ABS whilst driving to cycle the pump. Then rebleed and you should expel some more air - usually the rear right if doing it in sequence as per manual. Honda maybe similar

Yes the pedal will feel spongy you might find you need to get it on a diagnostic machine to cycle the ABS pump. Pressure bleeding at a low pressure and pump the pedal works sometimes but it will probably be a garage job too as people don't generally have them lying about

Ok thanks lads I might just take it to a garage , the pedal feels nice and hard no spongey feeling just to check when bleeding do you start from the furthest away from master cylinder so rear passenger and end up at front drivers and as the 4 pots have 2 nipples do the inside one first then outside and does it make a difference with engine on or off

Generally yes to all the above. The furthest away option was the way I was taught but certain manufacturers seem to have their own ideas. Think this came abut with ABS systems. As for the fronts I just keep going till there's no air for it doesn't seem to matter if you do it by the book you still get a bit of air out of the other side
