Default Non-starting car after storage

Hi all,

I've had my Classic UK Turbo in storage for about the past 5 years. It's just sat there until recently when I've been able to grab it back out and start playing again. It was last started probably about a year ago.

Here's a few more details on the situation and what I've tried:
  • The engine turns over fine,
  • The fuel pump primes (not an immobiliser or pump issue),
  • It has fuel pressure (I have an FPR fitted and can see it hitting 2 bar'ish),
  • The injectors pulse (only tested 1 so far though),
  • There's spark to the plugs (only tested 1 plug so far though),
  • The coil has the right resistances,
  • The cam and crank position sensors are giving me the right resistance readings (1.3k Ohms from memory),
  • I used the nasty old fuel pump to pump out the old fuel and replaced it with 10 litres of Premium unleaded.

My only other thoughts are:
  • Air lock in the fuel lines?
  • Make sure the injectors are firing (long screwdriver test)
  • Start pulling injectors to make sure they're not blocked.
  • Knackered ECU?
  • Compression
  • Check all the other plugs/injectors
Any other ideas?

Not sue if this will help, but had my gilfreinds s3 1.8t stored for 12 months and it wouldn't start even though everything checked out okay, we bump started the car and it worked from then on at the turn off the key, the same car did it again next time it was off the road for 6 months, never figured out why.

Well anything is worth a try at this stage! Thanks

Yeah I definitely give it a go, I'm guessing it just helped get the oil round and pick the compression up but I'm not sure.

Small update. I started to remove one injector (WD40 to loosen it off and got it spinning round) but then ran out of time so had to put everything back together. Thought I'd give it a go at firing it up and it's "running" on one cylinder. The one that I played with the injector on.
I wonder if the WD40 and movement have helped dislodge some of the accumulated fuel sludge from the injector?
Going to do the same with the other 3 next and keep my fingers crossed.

If there's that much sludge/deposits in your rails you've either got an awful lot of cleaning and flushing to do or your going to be tortured every day with problems.

Well. I took the return off the FPR and pressurised the system. The fuel came out perfectly clean and clear so I'm dubious. But other than injector air locks (is that a thing?) I'm not sure what else it might have done to help.

A couple of small updates...

One injector removed (drivers front - cylinder 1) and it was pristine, so not fuel clogging.
I've also fitted a replacement crankshaft position sensor just in case it was on its way out and it's made no difference. I did forget to clear the ECU after doing this though (2 errors from where I've tried cranking with sensors disconnected), but I can't imagine that the car wouldn't have started with a good sensor and an ECU error though? Or am I wrong?

Last bits to try:
  • Clear the ECU errors and try again.
  • Test the battery. I've got a smaller battery on at the moment (Bosch S5 001 52Ah) and I don't think it's 100% condition so might not be cranking fast enough.
  • Check at least 1 of the rear spark plugs so make sure there's spark there. I already have spark on cylinder 1.
  • Compression test
  • Knackered ECU

I only get 30 mins every few days to check bits and pieces so I can imagine I've missed something. Any suggestions?

Your injectors may look clean outside but could be gummed up inside.
