Default Clutch Issue

Car wont go into gear!! 2005 STI,
Clutch pedal seems fine, fluid level normal, but will not select any gear?

Car is facing into the driveway otherwise i would had started it in 2nd gear to get it running forwards.

Is my clutch feked?

Has the car been stationary for a while?

Try putting it in 5th, let the clutch out (with the Handbrake applied) and then try to start the car.

No crunching or grinding, last drive was normal.

It was sitting for around 3 weeks which is normal for me, LOL.. It wont go into any gears when running.
It selects all gears when not running, wonder if i try and start it in gear? Only problem then i suppose is if it will not select any other gears once driving,

Do you mean to start the car in 5th gear with the handbrake on and the clutch pressed, and after the car has started release the clutch pedal or start the car with the clutch pedal released already and the gearbox in 5th?

Start the car with the clutch pedal released already and the gearbox in 5th? the action of the clutch being held back by the gearbox and the handbrake will break the stiction of the Clutch Plate on the Flywheel

Thanks Wuz. Is the clutch more likely to stick when the car is left in gear for long periods of time?

No - clutch plate is making contact with the Flywheel all the time that the clutch is not pressed down - being in gear or not doesn't play into it..

Is your gearbox inspection hole cover still in place?

Cheers Wuz. That fixed the same problem for me.

I was trying to start in 1st and 2nd before, didn't do anything except make it lurch forward. It did take a couple of goes in 5th, but it worked. I hadn't used the car for about a month, and had washed it in the meantime. I should have the inspection cover on it still, as I replaced it a couple of years ago, although I hadn't noticed it it was missing.
