Default 06 Hawkeye Fuel Cut After Up Pipe Change

Evening all, had a up pipe crack on me last December, lucky Haywood and Scott done a like for like replacement, anyway finally had up pipe changed earlier today but when car was taken for a test drive the bloke from the garage said it had what he classed as fuel cut first time he hit boost and shot a load of black smoke out the back, nowt was changed apart from up pipe and car ran fine before pipe was changed, same diameter pipe as the last so car shouldn't need a map tweek, any ideas on what it be, cheers

either your up-pipe replacement wasnt like for like, or your car has been previously mapped on a cracked up-pipe. either way you're going to need it looked at by someone who maps

No Gambit when car was mapped up pipe was a new one and had no cracks and the replacement one is exactly same size diameter as the old one so god knows, unless the garage have not fitted the intercooler back correctly and or pipework.

The up pipe had only been on the car probably 4 yrs or so and had only started blowing end of last year and thought at first was haps just a gasket but then on inspection found the crack in the pipe, and i checked with Haywood and Scott that their like for like replacement was exactly that and it is because i measured both of them as they do 2 sizes, 45mm or 54 mm.

Do you have a boost gauge fitted? Would be quite easy to see if boost is spiking from there.

Might be worth double checking if they have accidentally moved/damaged or not fitted back correctly any of the inlet hoses.
Like other have said unless the map has changed to compensate for your old leaking up pipe then I don't believe the up pipe itself would cause the issue.

you can log the boost using Torque App and an ELM OBD Adapter (also handy for reading fault codes etc) - total cost about £10-12

this is the one i use

Cheers Gambit i'll take a look and invest in one for that moneyanother strange thing is that the dump valve no longer goes off, well if it does i can't hear it, im sure the garage who done the work have disturbed or damaged some pipework or not put them back on correctly, also i was running the car off boost whilst it had the cracked up pipe on coz it was so bloody loud so i can't be sure if the fuel cut problem was there before it went in to the garage for the up pipe change or not.
