Question Forester 2006 JDM EJ205 Turbo - Remapping and Oil consumption

Hi guys,

I am from Canada and I am new to Subaru world, but considering to buy a JDM Forester 2006 2.0 Turbo, 80k km, Auction mark 4C.

I am not sure if I can let EJ20T runs on 91 Gas in Canada or 93+ needed?
Do I need re-mapping or not? Is it problematic to re-map? Does any tuning shop can do this?
Another question, should i expect oil burning\consumption @ 80k km or its pretty low mileage for oil consumption?

I am not agressive driver at all, was looking for non-turbo Forester just because of the compact size, good volume trunk and overall design, but found Turbo one with the light blue color (fell in love) and condition I was looking for.

What do you think? Please advise.

Thank you.

You'll need a remap for sure. Is it a cross sport it looks like it from the grill.
Ive heard it can be tricky getting into that ecu.

@lockheed Thank you for your reply. What if I swap ECU only, from original to USDM? Will it help as plug and play solution?

Its definitely possible to map that ecu, you just need someone that knows what their doing.

Is the car a Cross Sport forester?

@lockheed you are right. I called a few tuning shops in my area and almost all of them told that they have no software to remap JDM Forester, but one shop said they are able to do that. Later I found an ad with JDM Legacy selling my area and it was mentioned that remapping was done. I texted that guy and he said that the shop who said "yes" to be, made his engine remapped.

I am googling what I would need to make right after purchase, any upgrades for average city driving (no drifting, no aggressive driving at all)...
Do I need to install the engine oil external radiator (with thermostat?)?

No need for an oil cooler unless you want one or you are tracking it/driving it hard. Do the usual fluid changes etc and change the pcv valve.

You don't say whether it's 5MT or 4AT? (manual/automatic)
