Question JDM Forester 2006 2.0 Turbo with 59k km- w30 or w40 oil?

Guys,

Could you please advise which oil viscosity should I go for my imported JDM Forester 2006 2.0 Turbo with 59k km.
Car is stock, has no modifications. Is a family driver, with no racing and too much agressive driving.

5w30 is recommended by the manufacturer, however, I feel like 5w40 should provide better engine protection and prevent oil shear in summer (outside temp up to +40C) and some highway driving.
Cannot decide which one to go for, w30 or w40?

Please advise. Thank you.

personally the 40w, not sure how low your winter temps get in Canada but should be fine in general terms

Thank you for the answer. Winter temps in my area can be down to -35C, but we all use block heaters here and plug the in at night time, so considering to use 5w30 for winter.
But summer is hot with up to +35. As I am going to drive on highways for a few hours on weekends to go camping and stuff, so 5w40 should provide better protection, despite 5w30 is recommended by Subaru.

Thank you for the information. That helps for sure.
Knowing that we have hot summers here with +35 + 40 sometimes, I should go for 5w40 and switch to 5w30 for the winter time.
