Default Impreza terzo bottem end options

Morning guys and girls I have a new project it's a 1998 terzo the bottom end has gone.
Just working out what short blocks are interchangeable. I have been offered a 1996 wrx bottom end would this work with my original heads
Any advice would be much appreciated thanks

Better option, depending on price is a new EJ207 short block

Thanks for replying. At the moment am trying to do it cheap as possible. Someone local is selling a 1996 wrx engine, am thinking is it possible to use the short block and fit my heads to it. Need to work out what head gasket I would need

depending on the exact age of the WRX engine / car it was removed from then it may have the earlier style hydraulic heads or it may be the first of the solid shim type set-up.......
does it still have the inlet manifold on??
the 96 and older engine you would want to swap your Terzo heads to, but the later 97-98 engine has basically the same as yours

Nice one will give them a call 👍🏽

Just got a reply from the seller it says cam16vavle on the rocker covers.

Made a start stripping the engine down, for some reason it has x2 knock sensor fitted but only 1 wire there what connects
