Default Classic Center pipe is catted

Hi all

I've found a lot of contradicting information on this over all the forums so aplogies if this is common knowledge or has already been answered but having had my rotten center pipe replaced today I can confirm that on my 97 uk turbo 2000 the original (I think) centre pipe did indeed have a catalytic converter in it

Yes you are correct. Most UK models did, P1 didn't, JDM models didn't.

thanks for clarifying Jay, thought sticking a photo online would help. Sounds much better with the straight through centre!

I went with the eurocat type approved downpipe until I can afford to do esl and sports cat in one go, And an rcm centre pipe. Spent £5 on some autsol and polished the backbox up rather than 300 on a new one.

I can confirm there is a cat, as I refitted one; I've got a my97 turbo2000 decat (resonated) in my shed somewhere (was swapped back to get the car to "as original" ).

I always wondered why even Subaru in the Prodrive Performance Pack for the classic included a 'de-resonated centre section' and didn't call it a decat.

(Mine is Cobra sports cat downpipe, Hayward and Scott centre, and Prodrive back box)

Part of the reason I thought I'd post a photo so there isn't any doubt as depending where I was reading it was a resonator centre or a cat centre

Did they? The P1 decat looks same as catted centre pipe.
