Hi, guys! I have one space engine block want to identify come from which years of wrx. As I know is from wrx but want to confirm which years due to plan rebuild and put in my 2000 bugeyes. Only information can found it may come from version 1~2 (1994~1995). Not sure compare 2000 gd wrx which block is better?. thanks.
Right hand block show EJ20BUG
number on left hand show 279452 Right hand 278059
number near water pipe hole not sure what it is.

 

those pistons are from a later 2.0 so doesn't appear to be an early block BUT only way to know for sure would be to check if it has a Centre Thrust or Rear Thrust crank installed........
crank aside the actual blocks would be very similar being Open Deck type and hence ultimately "weak" at 400+.......

 

Thanks your information, I may open it in next months to check crankshaft and update. My plan just consider ej207 short block or just save money to use this one, the problem this one i need to make sure which block it is and using the right gasket and bolt. thanks your help again. cheers.
