NOS is it safe in an impreza
#1
As above, has anyone put NOS in an impreza. My theory is that a lot of scoobs have been tuned to 300bhp (which is always in use) so surley putting 50bhp jets on my UK model and only using when I want won't do much harm. What kind of price are the kits? I been offerd wizard of NOS kits for £450 with any size jets.

Hmmmmm i think this is a touchy area....
IMHO i would NOT put NOS on a turbo'd car, simple reason is that if your running high boost it could push it right up and spike, the worst it could do is kill your turbo and engine...
Dodgy area to play in as you would have to consult the more professional tuners about this (ie Pete Croney)

apparently i have been told that at the recent max power show they had an indoor 1/4 stretch, and a scooby with NOS raced a ferrari. He kicked the NOS in 3rd and left the ferrari as if it was going backwards. All i can tell you he had two bottles of NOS on the back seat. a friend tells me it was untouchable on the day!!!
PS NOS on scoobies in the U.S is BIG!!! there is a kit available of ebay.com for around 300 dollars.

Hmmmmm here is my theory
Running NOS will do this to your car....
1.Make it go faster!!
2.put more oxygen into your engine giving better burn.
3.make it feel like its running on a VERY cold day
4.Hmmmmmm doesnt that whack the boost up?
5.Would the ECU be able to adapt that quickly?
6.How long would it last before the engine goes bang?
7.Actually makes your turbo less efficient due to the fact that most uk cars will only be good for 280bhp efficiently....
8.Puts undue pressure on your engines internals
9.We have been tuning these turbo engines somewhat longer than the americans
10.TLC=long life engine, non TLC=BANG!
11. NOS for N/A cars isnt really a problem as they dont have quite the complications as turbo'd engines, ie they dont have one!

An indoor 1/4 mile???? Thats a bloody big indoors...
re Fast and ridiculous... WHat the hell was a metal plate doing there, how can he do 140mph+ and play with his computer...how can a 10sec car take 30 secs to do a 1/4..
A bit of light entertainment, but as far as cars are concerned, complete max power bullsh1t
NOS can work very well on a turbo engine, due to the cooling effect it has on the inlet charge. It is also very useful at removing lag, which would be a better use for it, but I really dont believe a subaru needs it. It is expensive, requires maintenance to get good performance, and the bottle doesnt last anywhere near long enough. It may be good for drag racing, a complete waste of money otherwise.
The car is turbocharged for f**ks sake, if you cant get power out via the turbo of it then there is something wrong with you.
NOS and Fast and fu*** etc etc....LOL wise up LMFAO

There is another device a bit simliar to NOS called NTERCOOLER. Which basically is a rail which nozzles which fits on top the intercooler and basically blasts pressurized NOS or carbon dioxide on the TMIC thus cooling the intake temps = more power.
heres the readup on it from the website --
For supercharged or turbo applications where nitrous is not an option, NX offers another alternative, the “N-tercooler”. Using either nitrous or CO2 this unit can reduce air inlet temperatures dramatically. In a recent dyno test, a turbocharged Honda, equipped with an NX “N-tercooler ”, increased its baseline by an astounding 52 horsepower! If it makes horsepower, it must be Nitrous Express!

And a similar device to that, is called a water spray, and instead of using gas that has to be purchased at great expense, and stored in a presssurised cylinder, also at great expense, it uses water, which is pretty much free.
Sales people...im sure there are loads out there who have made a fortune on the backs of films like the F&F. While NOS etc does work, it just aint worth the money. As for the CO2/NOS intercooler spray?????? Id go for water every time, and with the money I didnt spend on the other stuff, buy something actually useful..

Nigel Bowles from Kent deals with this sorta kit, I've not seen him post for a while but I did see him in his scoob the other week so I know he's still about.
If your serious I can probably dig out a number of a shop that could put you in contact..
Edited to say, here's a thread Nigel posted on..
