my aircon smells like p1$$

Not quite that smell no, but...
AC systems that haven't been used get things growing in them (I'm guessing here that you haven't used it until recently?). You can get spray that you squirt into the various inlet while running the system that kill off bacteria, etc. A good preventative thing to do is to run the AC even when it's cold for half-an hour or so once a month.
If you can't find the spray, just run it for a while with the windows open & it should improve, if not remove it entirely!

I get that too, the aircon heat exchanger gets so cold that moisture in the air condenses onto it. I think it then drips off and puddles until there's enough of it to drip out the pipe in the bottom of the car. If you run it for a long time then park up you'll see the drips.
I don't really think there's a solution, although that spray mentioned above may do the trick. A better designed heat echanger drain would solve the problem.

Stop taking 'scaredy cat' passengers out for a 'blast'
Seriously, ya man is right, they get things 'growing' in the inlet side....run it up and open one window, let it clear and repeat, dont leave it running for long with the window open.
Should work.

This can be caused by the dehumidifying crystals becoming saturated and usless...a usual aircon problem...usually you need to replace them..not sure about the impreza system...in some systems I've heard of people microwaving/baking the crystals to purge them and re-using them!...
