i wanna put 17's on my impreza sport. its currently got standard 15's. but my manuel 4 my srs airbag system says not to. wud this affect the air bag system. ie, bigger wheels--->incorrect speed reading---->incorrect air bag operation?

I would be interested in hearing opinions on this.
My Airbag light came on after fitting 18" wheels.
I hadn't connected the 2 until reading the above post.

Wink

I cannot see how the two are related and I find it amusing to think that a wheel change could effect the airbag!

Aire bag sensor works on speed plus an impact I think but doesn't display the airbag fail light if the car has no wheels or huge wheels or small wheels??

Besides when you change the wheels you change the tyre profile so overal size difference is about the same roll radiaus etc..

Thousands of people have switched wheels on the scoobies and nothing like this have been on here before?

I switched to 17s with no problem.
