Question

Can anyone tell me how a Knock link fits?, why is the device sold separate to the sensor?

Does the £80 or whatever knocklink contain all I need to fit it to my car or do I need anything else, also where the heck does the sensor go and is it a DIY fit?

Cheers

Easy peasy
The kit comes with the sensor..
Basically you have to position the display where you want it in the car...
Find a good earth...
connect it to the correct wire
Find a switched live... (ignition)
connect it to the correct wire
Then run the two other wires from the knock link through to the engine bay...
The sensor has two wires on it...
the sensor has to be bolted to the block somewhere, i found a thread in the block that was not used and bolted it on here...
Connect the wires from the KL to the sensor and 'hey presto' you are nearly finished
All that is left to do is adjust the KL accordingly, there is a display adjuster on the KL... Instructions that come with it are pretty good...
Rob..
Seriously easy job mate.

Mega_stream,

The device is sold seperately to the sensor because some people like to connect the monitor to the ECU which uses the stock knock sensor.

It is best to fit a seperate sensor. Go to this link and follow Jan Shim's instructions. Wait for a pic to load too, showing where the sensor fits.

OK WREXY can you confirm that this is at the back of the engine underneath where TMIC would be, just in front of gearbox?

I tried mounting my sensor under the i/c - it's too quiet down there for my liking, and I moved it back onto where the RH i/c mounting bracket bolts to the manifold.
