E.C.U. Re-map, worth it, or not ????
#1
I'm thinking about going down the road of having my E.C.U. re-mapped for a boost of power and speed after my sloppy performance on the 1/4 mile. I have heard that this can cause the engine to become unreliable from time to time. Can anybody advise me if this really does the job or brings on a heap of problems, also if you have any before and after statistics would be greatly appreciated.

Getting a remap gives the most gains when it is done after a few bolt on mods ie air filter, downpipe, exhaust system, turbo etc. If you have a standard car then rempas are not really worth it and you should consider a TEK2 ECU.
If you are alredy modded up and want to go further then a system like the link, gems or even motec are your options.
This is only a general overview, look through previous drivetrain post for more info
Neil.

TEK2 is a remap but a set one. TEK3 would be the better/more expensive option if a lot of mods had been done.
I was thinking aloong the lines of piggyback/replacment ECU's
Plus I was dissapointed with TEK2 so got the Link which IMHO was better.
