Is the new-shape STi a lardy dog?
UK00 Turbo weighs 1,235Kg. New UK STi weighs 1,470Kg. That's 235Kg or 16% heavier.
To put this in perspective, 235Kg is 37 stones - the equivalent of three fat birds on board Permanently
My full de-cat UK00 with superb TD04L hybrid turbo from Mark (R19KET) and EcuTek3 remap from John Banks produces about 290bhp and a thumping 300ft/lbs at 3,200rpm. Costs about the same as PPP, too, including the exhaust.
So if I go for a new STi-7 it's gonna need 345bhp just to stay level I know there's a 120kg lighter RA on special import, but I can't be doing with that hassle.
If you want a quick Scoob (which I do ) what is the best car to start with?
Thanks guys,
Richard.
PS I want air-con and ABS, too. This is an everyday car. Cheers.

Yes, it's a lardy dog, almost the weight of a R32 Skyline

You may have already reached the best compromise with what you have. Genuine 170 bhp / litre could get expensive

The thrills that you are looking will start with cars called 'EVO's' The down side is that no one will talk to you on scoobynet again (could be a good thing) and everyday useability may be significant.
Maybe the Focus RS will do the trick..... Nurse, where's my medication?
