Sounds like it could be a bad batch of fuel
Have run my MY00 PPP'd car on optimax since it was available round here, havnt had any probs with it so far (or they put UL in the optimax tank )

Have you been working on the car at all..... anywhere near the air flow meter...??? check here to see if the wire plug connector is still attached...
Have you checked all pipes e.t.c are connected...???
Does the car drive at all, will it rev if you press the throttle??.....

What is it actually doing cos mine has gone a bit lumpy since using optimax. When sat idling, she engine seems to kick a bit, almost like someone is just kicking the bulkhead a bit. Also, when she's cold the revs seem to wander about a bit beteen 800 and 1500 just for a split second. Have mot next week so I'll see what that uncovers, ie faulty lamda sensor etc.
edited to say it's a 93 wrx

Jab, sorry for not getting back
Certain types of filters will put goo onto your MAF sensor, its known that the MY99/00 sensors are more sensitive to contamination over the older ones, this could be your problem.
The other option is to revert back to your original fuel (or add octane booster) and as long as you dont rag your car (hard to do i know ) you should be ok.

Jab, the best person i know to speak to is John Felstead as he knows loads about engines etc and he also runs an STi 5 V-ltd.
If you look for the forum he is a moderator of and give him an email (should be at the top of the page) he will be of more help to you than me IMHO as depending on when you had the ITG filter fitted etc and the time you have run it on optimax should give John a better idea of the cause.

Jabroni sorry to hear you are having probs with the car. I think I read on the bbs somewhere that you can order the sensor on its own without the housing, with the cost of it being IIRC about £100. I will do a quick search for you and see if I can find the part No. for you.
