I was told that i should take it easy for the first 1000miles, they even set it so that when i go over 4000rpm it makes a beeping sound and flashes warning me to change gear...

But u know how it is, brand new car i cant help my self, i've had 2 races so far (races worth having: M3 E46 & Porsche 996) this wouldnt have affected my car engine in anyway would it? well its so tempting to take it all the way in each gear..

its a big change from MY00 to this super soft but rapid ride!

Tempting to rev but you might end up with high oil consumption or worse.

Currently running in a new engine on my 99MY so I almost know how you feel.

I would advise against this. Subaru Dealers were given strict instructions (this includes not maintaining constant revs for too long) about running in the Type UK engines after a couple of problems encountered during this period.

You raced your STi7 while still in the running in period ?
Think your winding ppl up, not even a nooby would do that.

7,

The STi uses a thin running in oil to enable eg pistons to bed in properly. The 1K service replaces this oil with proper stuff.

Race at your peril. Hope you have a big wallet to sort out problems later.....

control yourself mate there will be plenty of time for the going mad

but if you are so eager to let it rip why dont you take a leasurely 6-700 mile trip on the motorway and then get the service done allthough i still wouldn`t let rip straight away

I did exactly the same thing when I first got my STi UK, it was sooo tempting to push it hard and I did have a play a few times before the first service. I've now done 4,000 miles and have not noticed any problems so far.
