high mileage

My legacy estate is 10 years old, and has 130K on it, and it still drives great, and all on the original suspension. There arent any rattles to speak off. Subarus do handle big miles very well, if looked after.

No need to worry mate, my neighbour has an my95 uk with 208,000 miles. All he does is change the oil every 2000 miles and keep it serviced correctly. No engine rebuild or major replacements. Only a clutch 28,000 miles ago. The scary thing is that it has 287bhp.
Gets driven like it should too.
Mileage aint an issue as long as it's got FSSH.
Go for it.

I had a wagon which my brother now owns its now done 115K and runs spot on. I personally reckon they get quicker with mileage and would not be put off one at all. When will people realise that cars are built to much higher standards now and the old if its done over a 100k its knackered brigade should realise this.

208,000 miles, and hes only had a clutch 28,000 miles ago. Thats 180K on a clutch..Thats a record. Expect them to last 50K. Are you sure its a turbo your friend has Mako?? Nearly all 4wd cars are hard on clutches.

Absolutley it's a turbo. It was a company car before he got his modding mits on it so it had always been well serviced. As far as mods he's done it's Scoobysports gasflowed downpipe, centre, Magnex BB, PiperX induction Kit, Superchip, Dawes, Intercooler water spray, currently running @ 20-18psi boost. Dyno'd 3 weeks ago and produced 287bhp and 246lbft. The car runs sweet as a nut and a local Subaru specialist said it was one of the best Scoobs he'd been in. It really is a genuine cracker.
However it does look a bit like Beiruit at the front, 208k is a lot of stonechips. He's looking at getting it painted sometime soon.
If I can get pics uploaded I'll put them on.
cheers

What do you want to know about the spray? It's fairly easy to install. Washer bottle off a Nova, some tubing, micro irrigation nozzles from B&Q and plumb onto Intercooler. The reason we put the spray onto the intercooler rather than in the scoop was for benefit on rollers where the bonnet is up so no spray hits intercooler. The system is wired to the headlamp washer circuit so it's a case of hitting the switch for spray. This is soon to be changed for a temperature switch.
Hope this answers your query

the bit that puzzled me was why have it, is it purely to reduce the temperature of the boost air going through the cooler hence increasing volume or is it something else, also, if it is as i suspect above, what sort of differnece do you get on the rolling road before and after fittment, must say, it did look the dogs b's.
cheers

My car has approaching 107,000miles on it and it is sweet as a nut..
Even does a fair bit of towing..
The one problem you will have is re-sale they are not easy to sell as everyone steers clear of a high mileage car.. so if you intend keeping it for a couple of years and moving onto something else you might be better going for a low mileage car a couple of years older..
Mine is still running on original Suspension, and Clutch as far as I can tell from service history..
Front crank seal went at 100k which is a common problem apparently and they should be changed with the cambelt at 90k..
So if it has not been done then expect it to start leaking oil out the front.. cost is a cambelt change to change the seal about 300notes..
Enjoy the new car
