boost: bar to psi conversion?
#1
Harvey,
As I understand it, average atmospheric pressure at sea level (or something) is generally taken as 14.7psi, but 1bar is still roughly 14.5psi. This is stated on the SI units standards site. I found the definitive answer to this one last time it came up, assuming you subscribe to using the same SI standard everyone else does!

So, rounding down into easy to do in your head figures:
14.5 psi = 1 bar
14.7 psi = 1 atmosphere
excellent stuff.
Still think american horses are petit though!

Moray,Craig,Matt: I am happy to stand corrected and have no idea how I came to believe 1 bar was 14.7psi unless at some point years ago I wrongly assumed 1 bar and 1 atmosphere were the same.
Good job I do not work with high pressure vessels!!! although I calculate I have been over boosting the wagon by .32psi!!!
Thanks guys.

Very interesting but not very funny (for embarassed little me)
You learn something new every day but Iam not going to turn my boost down .32psi.
For the techies does this explain my latest phenominal rolling road figures!!!

ok ok ... i surrender.
having left this thread last week and re-read it 2nite, i must thank everyone for their extremely accurate input. *honest!*
a thought though, personally, when driving i go by 0.1 bar or 1psi
or does anyone use an accurate gauage to measure to smaller quantities, elec boost cont perhaps?

u the man bob!
just a took ownership of a link module from a friend, was told it was mapped by yourself. hopefully they work the same on my car or i'll have to make a visit to get it remapped again.
both type r version 4. btw, what's wrong with the car showing error code 51? comes on now and then for no reason but idling a bit funny though.
