I was wondering if anyone has disabled the active braking (where all 4 brakes are apparently operated independently of each other -not the anti lock ) and if so was there any noticable difference to the car?

i didnt think it had it, the only car with that is the svdc legacy which can work the brakes independently via solenoids to stop the car skidding out of control.

Scoobyboy, its also known as Electronic brake distribution and I am curious if this is why the STi is unsettled under braking on uneven roads.

I've also found this problem.Someone suggested it was something called 'pad knock off'.?Something to do with lateral movement of the calipers?

The spec of the STI UK is ABS with EBD. There are a lot of cars where the ABS can give you a nasty fright when braking over bumps. The STI is a thousand percent better than my MY00 was, where the pedal would sometimes dive to the floor (Prodrive Alcons by the way).

A 'feature' of ABS.

To put another slant on it guys, my STi was a little unstable under braking but at the weekend I had the Geometry setup properly at Powerstation and now it is very stable and planted. The cars come out of the factory with geometry settings way out and everyone should get this sorted as a matter of course IMHO

Any competent garage with the correct equipment. The kit Powerstation use is accurate to 1/60 of a degree. They say it needs to be this accurate to get it right Then all you need, is someone to tell you what settings to run....
