I have started to notice a noise from the passenger side bank of my engine. It sounds like a tappet noise although i have noticed the injector rail and I guess it could be that????
It is most pronounced when the engine is hot, not so noticeable on initial start up..............

Is noisy tappets a common issue?

It only seems to be on one side........Is this normal???

 

i have a my98 with 30k on the clock and it sounds tappety aswell.

was a bit concerned at first but the mechanic at the scoob garage said it was normal and that older models were really noisy. i only notice the tapping sound between 1500 and 2000 revs when i'm pottering around town.

turn up the stereo and forget about it was the advice i got.
